Participate in Research

We have several research studies going on in the lab. Scroll down for specific information on our studies related to relationships between primary caregivers and adolescents.

Daily Conflicts in Parent-Adolescent Dyads: Associations with Parent-Adolescent Development

Purpose: We want to learn more about what daily interactions between primary caregivers and their adolescents are like, and how these interactions are related to individual characteristics  such as developmental status and well-being.

You can participate if:

  • You are an adolescent between the ages of 13-17 year OR
  • You are a primary caregiver and legal guardian (e.g., mother, father, step-parent, etc.) to an adolescent aged 13-17years
  • You live in British Columbia
  • Both participants have access to a smart phone
  • Both the adolescent and caregiver reside at the same address

What does participation involve?

There are two different parts to the study.

Part 1:

Primary caregivers and their adolescent will each complete an online survey that will ask about demographic information and several aspects of your development and aspects of well-being. This will take approximately 30 minutes  to complete.

Part 2:

Primary caregivers and their adolescent will then complete a short survey  once per day for 14 days via a free smart-phone based app.

Honorarium:

At the end of the study protocol, participating primary caregivers and adolescents will each receive an honorarium in the form of a gift card of your choosing (Starbucks, Tim Horton’s, Amazon.ca, Mosaic Books) to thank you for your time, in accordance with the following:

  • $7 for completing Part 1
  • Up to $28 ($2.00 per completed daily questionnaire) for Part 2
  • Overall: you can each receive up to $35 if you fully complete both parts of this study
